About Dying Oath
Dying Oath may be new to the scene, but it has been in the works for quite some time... Dying Oath is a melodic metalcore band based out of Rural Retreat, Virginia. Dying Oath has proven that although the area is dominated by Country and Bluegrass, that Metalcores crunchy rhythms and sweeping melodic leads accompanied by a combination of delicate clean and hardcore vocals, can indeed succeed to some extent. Fierce and energetic, they look to harden their footprint in the surrounding metal scene. Originally formed in 2018, drummer, Ryan Endicott, and lead guitarist, Josh Hagee, started writing music together. Their chemistry mixed very well, with each other being able to communicate and make songs in typical musician fashion. Through several auditions and searching, they came across Jacob Richmond, who played the drums, and at that point, Ryan decided to move to guitar. With that, they then decided on Jeb Baxley for clean vocals and not long after, they moved in on their second vocalist for screams, Mindy Jackson. After looking for a bassist, Jacob and Mindy brought in Ryan Matney, who had played in a band with them years before. Even though the band is newer with a full line-up, they are excited to showcase their talents and stories in their upcoming debut album that is set to release mid to late 2020. In an effort to showcase some of the material that the band had been working on meticulously for the past several months, Lead Guitarist Josh Hagee decided to pick up the gear necessary to make rough recordings of their tracks and jump on a local event happening in Rural Retreat. Although the tracks were much less that studio quality, the fans of the local scene really connected with what they heard. This combined with a performance at "Rock Retreat III" hosted by DMP Presents and organized by Adam Seelbach (Inferior Design), launched the band into a status they never expected. Dying Oath continues to push the envelope of the local metal community with the support of many other local acts and endorsements from Maverick, Hellfire Radio, Alloy X and Alloy Radio, Dirtbag Clothing, an Artist Development program with Will Baker of Eye to Eye Records and Hollow Intent, and an unheard of partnership with a Haunt Scene podcast known as Haunted Honeymooners. The band also made an agreement with Injected Smile Studios to remix and master their current tracks to add a clean studio performance to their music, hopefully pushing them to even greater heights. The date for the album is still undetermined but 2 Singles, "Modern Testament" and "Insomniac", have successfully been released and available on most major streaming services.
