"Untaken" Review
"Untaken" breaks out strong leading the album in a brutal assault to your senses and will have your fist banging and head rockin' before leading into "Collide". Collide is a fast paced melodic song about giants and titans in battle. "Haunted Memory" slows down the pace and has a great rhythm to the song. The song has some great lyrics, vocals and choruses throughout and a nice heavy trotting beat that'll get ya body rockin' with the jam. I really enjoyed the guitar in the song that follows along behind the vocals. "The Fare" launches via dual guitars and quickly drops in the band following the rhythm into the lead vocals. The song is very melodic and has some awesome guitars, drumming and lead vocals in the mix. I really enjoyed the flow of the track and the solo work incorporated into the song. "Running Out Of Days" comes out really heavy and pounds out an all out attack with brutal vocals, guitars, basslines and drumming till the end. One of my favorites on the album; I really enjoyed the crunchy guitars and gritty hard vocals/chorus. "Unkindled Flame" a fast paced jam puts the band into a frenzy pounding out the tunes with hast, the song has a lot to offer from each member in the mix. Fans of Iron Maiden will really dig the jam! "No Regrets" sets a dark, heavy feel from start and tells a great story of remorse. The song really does well to capture the listener in the morbid tale."The Arrival" guitars sound off to start this heavy rocker, from single to dual attack the song slowly increases in depth before falling into the crunchy rhythm. One of the favorites on the album with a very heavy offering throughout and a great story of sickness too. This album rocks from the brutal start all the way down to the dual welded guitar attack in the end! I really enjoyed the clean, vintage progressive sound of the band on the album. "Untaken" has no filler and every track on the album is solid, uniquely written, and enjoyable with tales of battle and woe. Each song has something new to offer and in the albums entirety provide a great captivating listen throughout Our Rating 10/10 - overall album content | all songs top quality - no filler | unique and authentic lyrics
Since the formation of the band in 2013 Roskilde based Pectora have released the demo ”Burgeon Of Hate” in 2014 and the EP ”Redemption” in 2017. All of them leading up to their bombastic debut album ”Untaken” to be released through Mighty Music in May 2019.
”Untaken” is produced by the band and mixed and mastered by one of Germany’s leading producers Orden Ogans Sebastian ”Seeb” Levermann (Orden Ogan, Rhapsody Of Fire, Riot V & Brainstorm) in Greenman Studios. It’s an album rich on full blown heavy metal from start to finish. Wrapped up in a modern and big production. Pectora shows that heavy metal, in 2019, still is an active force, where old school and new school heavy metal collides and melt together in the best possible way. The 8 tracks on ”Untaken” showcases a band that knows how to write powerful songs with strong riffs, memorable melodies, harmonies and bombastic sing-a-long choruses, that stick to your brain. If you are a fan of classic metal, thrash, power or hard rock and if you like your music fast, heavy and slow – Pectora is what you are looking for! Pectora will tour Sweden as support for US metallers THEM in May 2019 as well as playing shows in Denmark and Germany. See full tour below (more shows TBA). ”Untaken” will be released on CD, LP & digtial on May 3rd pectora videos
