This band released their debut album, “Social Intercourse” in 1988, alongside Guns n’ Roses, L.A. Guns and Faster Pussycat where they kinda got lost in the shuffle. Releasing when the big names were releasing as well did not do them any favors They had a great sound partly due to the raunchy, toughness of their lead singer, Sally Cato. She was as strong of a presence as any of the guys on the scene at that time. She had grit and mega power in her voice.
Smashed Gladys had a major deal with Electra Records and was in the video for Run DMC’s cover of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way”. On one of their songs, they had Ozzy Osbourne on background vocals. Unfortunately, this band never broke into the mainstream music. There isn’t a whole lot of information on the male members of the band, but nowadays, you can find Cato writing science fiction novels and dark-comedy screenplays. |
